About Edward Finch
Edward Finch (59) is a watercolour artist who grew up in Tenterden, Kent. In his paintings he depicts the complex way that people choose to interact with their local surroundings: making the familiar appear unfamiliar using the translucent properties of watercolour pigments.
His work is also an attempt to escape the cerebral world of rational thought - allowing watercolour to ‘do its own unpredictable thing’. Being forced to abandon his academic career in his forties due to multiple sclerosis, his wayward hand movements characterise his paintings. His work is influenced by contemporary artists like the Argentinian artist Daniel ‘Pito’ Campos and the American architectural artist Alex Hillkurtz.
Edward is the author of several architectural books, the most recent being ‘Creating Emotionally Intelligent Workspaces: A Design Guide to Office Chemistry’ (Pub. Taylor & Frances, 2020) which was coauthored with Guillermo Aranda-Mena.
